SGA Makes Donation to Honor VT Victims

The School of Continuing Studies Student Government Association (SGA) has donated three books to Boatwright Memorial Library in memory of the victims at Virginia Tech. Each book will have a bookplate with a memorial dedication. The donated books are:

  • Thomas Jefferson: Reputation and Legacy by Francis D. Cogliano
  • America Transformed: Sixty Years of Revolutionary Change, 1941-2001 by Richard M. Abrams
  • George Mason, Forgotten Founder by Jeff Broadwater

Advisor Willis Receives Promotion

Lois Willis, Off-Campus Programs Coordinator and Student Advisor, received a promotion to Student Advisor – Graduate Programs. She will continue to coordinate all off-campus programs in addition to providing advising services to students in our graduate degree offerings.

Professor Taylor Co-Authors Article

September 19, 2007

Professor Porcher L. Taylor, III co-authored an article titled “Clery Act Needs Whistleblower Protection” with Capt. Beth Simons of the University of Richmond Policy Department. The article appears in the September/October 2007 issue of Campus Safety Magazine.

Coordinator Genovese Earns Bachelor’s Degree

Cheryl Genovese, Summer Programs Coordinator, has completed the requirements for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Strayer University. The degree will be conferred in October. Genovese will graduate with a grade point average of 3.92.

Coordinator Willis Completes Master’s Degree

Lois Willis, Advisor and Off-Campus Programs Coordinator, has completed the requirements to receive her Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Averett University. The degree will be conferred at Averett’s December commencement ceremony.

Coordinator Bowlin Earns Certification

September 6, 2007

Stephanie Bowlin, Personal Enrichment Program Coordinator for the Office of Community and Professional Education (OCPE), has completed the requirements for Certified Program Planner certification. The certification is offered through the Learning Resources Network (LERN), an international association of lifelong learning professionals that offers information and resources to the providers of lifelong learning programs.
