Professor Winston Elected to School Board

Adjunct professor of education Diana D. Winston was elected to represent the Three Chopt District on the Henrico County School Board during local elections on November 6. Winston was elected in a four-way race for the seat on the School Board, receiving 49% of the votes cast.

Professor Turpin Renews SPHR Certification

James C. Turpin, adjunct professor in the Human Resource Management degree program, recently completed the requirements to renew his Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. This prestigious certification is bestowed by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Professor Freundt Name Adjunct Emeritus

Professor Parvaiz Quoted in National Law Journal

Adjunct professor Adela Parvaiz was quoted in the National Law Journal online in an article titled “Lawyers, Students Report on Unrest in Pakistan” on November 7, 2007. Parvaiz is a former student in the Paralegal Studies program and practiced law in Pakistan. She commented on her native Pakistan and on the arrest of Pakistani lawyers by the government under a state of martial law.

Professor Lauziere Appears on Court TV

Adjunct professor Les Lauziere appeared in a new Court TV special, MyCase.com, that aired at 10:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. Lauziere was interviewed for the show, which included information about the investigation of missing, later found murdered, Virginia Commonwealth University student Taylor Behl.

Professor Smith Publishes Book of Poetry

Ron Smith, Adjunct Professor of English, recently released a book of poetry titled Moon Road: Poems, 1986-2005 and published by Louisiana State University Press. In addition, he is featured in the “Poet’s Spotlight for November” on Poet Laureate of Virginia Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda’s Web site.
